Ikuno Dictus
Ikuno Dictus is the kind of Uma Musume who makes discipline look elegant. A student at Tracen Academy in the Junior Division and a member of Team Canopus, she carries herself with the cool precision of someone who always seems to have a plan ready. Her profile paints her as straight-laced and highly organized, with an almost secretary-like talent for careful management—especially when it comes to her own condition.
Ikuno is determined to keep racing for as long as possible, and that determination comes wrapped in calm judgment rather than noisy bravado.
Visually, she is instantly memorable. Ikuno’s chestnut-orange short bob, long braids, muted yellow eyes, and large round glasses give her a polished, studious air, while her bilobed white star marking and left ear decoration add a distinctive flourish. At 163 cm, with a neatly maintained figure and even her weight described as “Honed to perfection,” she feels meticulously put together from top to bottom. It is a look that suits her perfectly: tidy, composed, and just a little intimidating in how utterly in-control it all seems.
That sense of order also shapes how she comes across in everyday life. She refers to herself as Watashi and addresses her mentor as Trainer-san, which fits her measured, proper demeanor. Publicly, she is often simply called Ikuno, and the nickname suits how neatly she slots into the wider cast while still keeping her own flavor. She lives in Ritto Dormitory, where her roommate is Mejiro McQueen, and her relationship notes also place her alongside fellow Team Canopus members such as Nice Nature, Twin Turbo, and Matikanetannhauser. Nice Nature in particular shares Ikuno’s April 16 birthday—one of those small, charming details that fans tend to remember.
Her media presence stretches across the Uma Musume Pretty Derby game as well as Seasons 2 and 3 of the anime, and Masumi Tazawa’s performance helps sell the character’s poised, intelligent image. Even her solo song title, Excellent Condition, sounds perfectly tailored to someone so devoted to maintenance, balance, and control. Ikuno’s currently listed character versions—Mantle of Steel and the New Year variant Strolling Along the Orderly Road—likewise underline the same appeal: this is a girl defined not by chaos, but by refinement, resilience, and the quiet drama of doing things properly.

Ikuno Dictus was a Japanese chestnut mare of the early 1990s, foaled on 16 April 1987 and bred by Eiji Takada. She raced in the colors of Noriaki Katsuno and was trained from Ritto by Nobuharu Fukushima. By Dictus out of Dyna Landing, a daughter of Northern Taste, she came from a pedigree that combined established European and Japanese influences, and she would go on to build a notable record as a tough, high-class mare in training.

At a glance
Her career was defined as much by durability as by class. Across 51 starts, Ikuno Dictus compiled a record of 9 wins, 8 seconds, and 5 thirds, earning more than ¥526 million in JRA prize money, with JBIS listing her total earnings at ¥531,124,000. That kind of campaign speaks to a mare who stayed in contention at a high level over time rather than flashing briefly and disappearing.
Ikuno Dictus reached her peak in 1992, the season that brought her the JRA Award for Best Older Filly or Mare. Among her confirmed major victories were the Kokura Kinen (G3) on 30 August 1992 and the Sankei Sho All Comers (G3) on 20 September 1992, the latter over 2200 meters on turf. Those wins underline her effectiveness as a middle-distance performer and help explain why she stood out so clearly among older mares that year.
Although the available record here does not provide a full race-by-race narrative, the broad shape of her career is still easy to appreciate: she was a mare who stayed sound and competitive long enough to assemble a substantial body of work. In Japanese racing, where longevity in top company is an achievement in itself, Ikuno Dictus earned her place through consistency, stamina, and repeated appearances at stakes level.
Her family also included siblings such as Emino Dictus, Dantsu Cheetah, and Big Hero, tying her to a productive domestic female line. After racing she was retired, and even from the limited evidence available, her legacy is clear: Ikuno Dictus remains remembered as an award-winning, graded-stakes-winning mare whose 1992 season crowned a hard-knocking and highly productive career.
