Curren Bouquetd'or (カレンブーケドール) was a bay Japanese mare foaled on 23 April 2016, bred by Shadai Farm and raced in the colours of Takashi Suzuki. A daughter of Deep Impact out of Solaria, by Scat Daddy, she combined one of modern Japan’s most influential sire lines with an international female family. She was sent into training with Sakae Kunieda at Miho, and developed into a high-class middle-distance performer.
Although her sole stakes victory came in the 2019 Sweetpea Stakes, that Listed success only tells part of her story. Curren Bouquetd'or compiled a strong overall record of 17 starts for 2 wins, 7 seconds and 3 thirds, and her consistency at a good level was reflected in JRA earnings of ¥458,057,000. She was not a prolific winner, but she was a notably reliable mare who repeatedly kept herself in the frame.
Her background also makes her an appealing example of the Deep Impact legacy. Deep Impact’s offspring were often associated with class and stamina at middle distances, and Curren Bouquetd'or fitted that general profile. On the dam’s side, Solaria was by Scat Daddy, adding an international dimension to a pedigree produced by Shadai Farm, one of Japan’s major breeding operations. Among her listed siblings are Sunrise Soleil, Focal Flower, and Ever Mano.
Curren Bouquetd'or raced throughout her career for the same owner and trainer, an element of continuity that often helps define a horse’s public identity. Wikipedia notes that Takashi Suzuki used the “Curren” prefix for his horses, linking her name to a broader stable tradition, while her preparation at the JRA’s Miho Training Center placed her within one of the country’s key training bases. That stable continuity, together with her durable record, helped shape her reputation more as an admirable campaigner than as a one-day sensation.
Now retired, Curren Bouquetd'or remains a solidly accomplished member of her generation: a Shadai Farm-bred Deep Impact mare, a Listed winner, and a runner whose earnings and record underline a career built on sustained competitiveness rather than flashy statistics alone.
