She was by Manhattan Cafe out of Great Sunrise, with Caerleon as her damsire, a pedigree that fit well with the middle-distance profile she showed on the track. Red Desire was also campaigned through a syndicate structure under Tokyo Horse Racing Co. Ltd., adding to her visibility as a high-class filly with broad ownership interest. According to the available research, her early preparation was not entirely straightforward, with her debut reportedly delayed after a fall and an episode of colic during training.

Her defining domestic achievement came in the 2009 Shuka Sho, the Grade 1 race that stands as the headline victory of her career. That success established her as a top-level filly in Japan, and it remains the performance most closely associated with her name. Across her home campaign she amassed substantial JRA earnings, reflecting not only that flagship win but a consistently competitive presence at an elite level.

Her racing career eventually came to an end after repeated nosebleeds during workouts, after which she was retired to become a broodmare.
